The Republican nominee, Dr. Robert Bentley, has called for limits on medical malpractice suits, but he has not made it a major issue on the campaign trail.

Democratic nominee Ron Sparks makes no mention of liability lawsuits in his campaign speeches.

It's a far cry from the 1980s and 1990s.

The chairman of the Alabama Civil Justice Reform Committee, Tom Dart, says it's not a front-burner issue now, because the situation in Alabama has been fairly stable in recent years.

Dart also said business people feel the Alabama Supreme Court will straighten out any wrong that occurs at a lower court.
