Pilot Injured After Bird Strikes Aircare Helicopter

The Aircare Helicopter based at Key Field in Meridian on its way to Cross Gates River Oaks Burn Center in Jackson hit a flock of birds Thursday evening.

The pilot was able to land safely at Jackson-Evers International Airport. He suffered severe lacerations and was taken to UMC in Jackson, he is recovering.

The patient on board was unharmed in the crash, and none of the other passengers were harmed.
