Republicans Considering Future after Cantor's Loss

Washington Republicans are considering Rep. Eric Cantor's loss last week to a little-known tea party challenger and what it means for the GOP heading forward. The vanquished majority leader himself is among them.

The monumental upset of House Republicans' No. 2 lawmaker left many in Washington still stunned on Sunday. In the wake of the loss, the Virginia Republican announced he would soon step down from his leadership post but serve the remainder of his term.

Cantor says no one saw his loss coming -- including himself.

Fellow Republicans said a litany of reasons fueled Cantor's loss.

Some attributed Cantor's willingness to talk about immigration proposals to his defeat. Others said he ran a lousy campaign. And still others said he wasn't in his district enough.
