Sewell Reflects on First Year in Office

Alabama Representative Terri Sewell says she has learned a lot in the year and a half that she has been in office, including the importance of collaboration.

Sewell is the only Democratic member of the Alabama delegation and tells us that has made her understand the importance of working together. We caught up with the Alabama representative this past week when she was in Choctaw County to help present the North Choctaw Water Authority with a check for $3 million.

"You know four months into it, we had the terrible tornadoes that devastated our state and parts of this district," Sewell recalls. "I've learned the importance of collaboration. As a lone Democratic member of the Alabama delegation, I know how critically important it is that we all work together. That we don't see red and we don't see blue. We see Alabamians in need."

Sewell took office in January 2011.
