Sonic Booms in West Alabama

Loud booms rattled some windows in West Alabama Thursday evening, and according to local law enforcement, it was caused by military aircraft.

We have confirmed from the Choctaw County Sheriff's Department that the sonic booms came from aircraft breaking the sound barrier overhead, the plans have since departed.

We have confirmed that they did not come from NAS Meridian.

I'm hearing these booms and it is not thunder. Thunder is a roar, these booms sound like they are not moving, and do not change intensity. Further, the boom is very short, and does not resonate in the atmosphere. It's there then it's gone just as fast. Very strange. The explanation that these sounds (heard all over the place, just not AL) are sonic booms is PURE AND COMPLETE BOGUS!! First I've heard a sonic boom this is not it. Also, it is illegal for ANY aircraft to break the sound barrier over the US mainland. Military or otherwise, would NEVER do this, they'd get a call from FAA and pay some fines/etc. Peace and love to all.

There were at least 19 sonic booms I counted Thursday night. The noise sounded like a battle ship sitting off shore firing along a target, it sent everyone running for cover. I had never experienced sonic booms over land only over water . It sounded very different.

It looks as if the people in AL are a little on the left they must not be ready with sound of jet's coming across in the air scaring them my advice is they better find a Church and the Cross and seek the LORD GOD Almighty.
