Richard Land Reprimanded, Show Canceled

The Southern Baptist Convention's ethics chief has been reprimanded and his radio show canceled after he made inflammatory comments about the Trayvon Martin case.

Among other things, Richard Land accused President Barack Obama and other black leaders of shamefully exploiting Martin's death for political gain.

His comments upset many black Southern Baptist leaders, one of whom called for Land's resignation.

The controversy got more intense when a blogger revealed that Land's commentary was copied nearly verbatim from an editorial in the Washington Times.

After an investigation, the board of the SBC's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission Friday reprimanded Land for the comments and the plagiarism.

Land, who is the commission's president, has previously apologized for both. He declined to be interviewed.

Too bad we get so involved in "Political Correctness" that we lose the ability to "exercise the blessings of: and tell the truth contained in The Word Of GOD"!!

it seems to me, and i am nobody like everybody eles, we all are leaping to conclusions here. how about we wait until after the trial, the when all the truth has come out we comment on this. as for the ethics chief for the southern baptist convention? anyone in that position should know better than open his mouth on such a case as this. one thing for you and i to do it, but what a spokesperson for the sbc goes on record, he had better be careful what he says. he may have learned that the hard way.

What's sad white woman is the Jesse Jacksons and al sharpstons are two of the biggest racist in the country but yet they are never held accountable for what they do but if a white man speaks up he is punished. What people are trying to say is every body should be treated equal. Don't punish a white man for speaking the truth and let another race do the same and nothing be said. Racism is alive and well within certain people but if you truly follow God it wouldn't be. Problem is the united states has left God and when that happens you have this. Our leaders are taking God out of schools and promoting gay marriage. This is the US and this is not what we were founded on. If prayer offends you the borders are open. LEAVE

As a white female, I personally am sick and tired of reading all the racist and anti-racist remarks in these comment sections. It's 2012 people, we ALL need to move forward and start working together. This is not a white country, nor is it a black or Hispanic or Asian country. It's a melting pot of people with similarities and differences. This country would be extremely boring if everyone was the same. Criminals come in all different colors, too. A Baptist ethics chief voiced his opinions and he has to answer for his views, just as each of us do in our own personal lives. If we would all just try to love each other, accept each other and pray for each other, instead of criticizing each other, this world would be a much better place!!!

Headlines: PC hits SBC agency Trustee board. Firm voice for religious liberty pulled from airwaves to protect the agencys higher purpose of building a more diverse denomination. Secular goals takinf a foothold in the SBC.

Is is just me, or does the local press jump on every "so called" racist thing done anywhere. This only hurts our community. Leave the stuff that's not done here out of our news. Enough already!

Facts: You got your facts wrong and you left out some important facts. Travon made first contact and it was aggressive. trayvon sucker punched zimmerman and was on top of him beating his face and slamming his head into the concrete. Zimmerman grew tired of being beaten and took action to prevent injury to himself and possible death at the hands of trayvon. Had zimmerman "just minded his business" then possibly another criminal might have escaped. you should discover the facts before you wish to judge the rest of us. zimmerman's future is unknown due to the overinvolvement of a president and others that are self serving. he should be free to live his life as if it didn't happen. The wrong people are apologizing.

For many years I have listened to people speak before all the truth is in! In our politically correct society, toleration or seeking mutual understanding, is swallowed up by opinions that serve only to provoke the worst in us! I am a Christian who genuinely loves people but also seeks to follow the Bible! My understanding of His Word often puts my beliefs at odds with the cultural norm but that does not mean I am moronic or racist!

In the Martin case, it is not about black or white. A young man was walking home from the store minding his own business. Zimmerman saw him and assumed that he was up to no good. Zimmerman called 911, but instead of allowing the police to do their job, he took matters into in own hands. Zimmerman initiated the contact with this young man. If Zimmerman had just minded his own business and let the police do their job, this would not have happened. Now a young man is dead and he is facing an unknown future. These are the facts that are relevant. Martin's character prior to that incident is not relevant.People, lay your biases and predjudices aside for one minute and concentrate on the facts.
