Still No Sign of Missing Alabama Man

Eutaw, Ala. Friday marked day 12 of a search for Kevin Gray, who is missing since a Mar. 9 wreck in the Black Warrior River.
He and his brother, Brian, crashed in Greene County, Ala. Brian made it to shore but Kevin has not been seen since.

Now, investigators are adjusting their search strategy.

Fliers are being distributed dispersed throughout the state of Alabama.

"We'll also conduct a missing person's report in Birmingham and Huntsville," said Greene County Sheriff Jonathan Benison.

The 42-year-old Gray previously lived in Eutaw, but most recently was living in Huntsville, Ala.

Brian had also lived in Eutaw, but currently resides in Tuscaloosa. The brothers were both involved in an accident sometime shortly after 5:30 p.m. Mar. 9. The crash happened off Alabama Highway 14 and Greene County Road 53.

"I spoke with the family. The family wants to commit a missing person's (search) also with the local newspapers, post offices and police agencies in the surrounding areas," said Benison. "I've seen cases where people plunge into the river and somehow they ended up on land. So, we're mainly doing this at the request of the family."

"He has never been gone for more than one day," said Kevin's wife, Lashon Gray. "I don't know what happened. I wasn't there. I don't know."

Some within the community are questioning whether this investigation is changing due to suspicions of foul play. But the sheriff assured Newscenter 11 there is indication of foul play at the moment.

"My other son's done told me the truth and i believe it," said Kevin's mother, Fannie Smith. "The only thing that they did wrong was to get into that car at that high of speed. That's what took my son's life and almost took the other one's."

The Greene County Sheriff's Department is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the location of Kevin Gray. All reports may be made to the Greene County Sheriff's Department at 205-372-3242.
