The suspect in the shooting death of an Anniston, Ala., woman turned himself in to authorities in Meridian Monday.
Law enforcement had been on the lookout for a black 2006 GMC Yukon, license plate AN90438.
The suspect, Fred Boyd, is a former Anniston police officer. He spent over a decade with the force, and resigned in August of 2011.
According to Anniston PD, the fatal shooting happened just before 7 a.m. Monday at an address in the city. The victim was Boyd's wife.
Shortly after Anniston PD responded, the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department was called to a residence where a man said he was shot.
The man was Fred Boyd's uncle; he was not injured, but Boyd is now charged with attempted murder in Calhoun County as well.
Boyd will be transported from Meridian back to Calhoun County Monday. He will not have the option of bond for the attempted murder charge or the murder charge.
