A small West Alabama community is still in shock after a tragic accident over the weekend.

A 13 year old boy was killed Friday evening along tracks near the intersection of 2nd Avenue and Curl Road in York after being hit by a train.

The death has been ruled accidental, and the family has requested that the victim's name not be released.

"We had three kids walking along the railways like they always do," says Investigator Ray McVay.

"This particular day, the train came up on them, and spooked them for some reason. They stayed on the track instead of getting off, and when one of the children tried to get off the track the train clipped him, and he died from the impact."

Police say that grief counselors have been made available at the school the victim attended, and police have been checking in on the other children that were on the scene, trying to help them cope with this tragedy.

yes i was referring to the accident that happened friday evening in york with the young boy that got hit by the train. this accident happened right behind a trailer on 814 2nd ave. york alabama and the lady even knew the child.but the investigator or the police have not even talk to those people there at that resident. but these people know how the train runs so fast down the rail and the train has always slowed down. this is such a bad thing that had happened and my prayers go out to the family and friends. they need to set up a fund for the family to help with the funral cost.may god bless them.
