The Alabama Welcome Center at Cuba celebrated its annual Christmas Open House Tuesday..
The staff wanted visitors to think of Alabama as a home away from home and to patronize the state's retailers and unique shops as they travel.
The welcome center also distributes brochures of Alabama attractions, some of which are open year-round.
"The main thing is to get them to stop in Alabama, and make them feel welcome, and to come back and visit and vacation with us in the state," said manager, Jerry Hale. "The purpose of it is to really get the tourists into the spirit of Christmas and provide some courtesy and some treats for them."
Alabama's southern hospitality is on display at eight welcome centers around the state.
