Livingston, Ala. A church group says it's picketing to keep its land in west Alabama. Organizers for the effort declined an offer from WTOK to speak on camera, but they willingly talked off camera.
All of the people picketing are members of Christ Temple Church in Eutaw, Ala. They say they're picketing in response to a lawsuit that was filed against an organization that is affiliated with the church. The name of the organization is REACH Incorporated.
The lawsuit was filed by a former employee with REACH Incorporated.
Church officials say the lawsuit was for more than $6 million, and that the judgment could cause the church to lose all of its assets; this includes farmland which the church owns in Sumter County.
Church leaders say that Circuit Judge Eddie Hardaway has issued a default judgment in the case. Participants say they will continue to picket until due process is rendered.
