They city of York's money woes with the IRS could be days away from ending. City manager, Tim Sweezey says this Friday York officials will sign a contract with Huntsville based, Sensible Loans for $350,000. Most of that money will be used to pay the city's tax debt to the IRS. The rest will be used for other expenses. Although a new mayor and four new council members were elected yesterday in York, Sweezey says this should not affect the deal.
"The council has already passed the resolutions regarding the loan and we proceeded forward. We intend to wrap it up with the IRS Friday. We've gotten our title searches. We've gotten everything that we need to do. So, we believe that this will be quick and painless and we'll get it over with."
The newly elected mayor and city council members in York will officially take office in November.
