The following were reported to the Meridian P.D. on Tuesday
Commercial Burglary

Meridian Police are investigating a Commercial Burglary that occurred in the 500 block of Azalea Drive. It is unknown what time this crime occurred.


Yesterday Meridian Police were alerted to a Strong Armed Robbery that occurred in the 2000 block of 26th Avenue. The victim advised Police he was robbed by force by someone he knew who came into his home and robbed him. This incident is under investigation.

Residential Burglary

Meridian Police are investigating one Residential Burglary that occurred on Tuesday the 10th of September. Officers responded to a home in the 1500 block of 8th Avenue at 6:00 AM. Upon arrival they met with the homeowner who showed them where entry was made into the home through a window. Money was stolen from the home. When more details are available they will be released.

Auto Burglary

Meridian Police were called to the 1100 block of 48th Avenue yesterday at 733 A.M. on a call of 2 Auto Burglaries. The owner showed Police where entry was made through the door on each vehicle and miscellaneous items were stolen from each vehicle.

Police were also called to an Auto Burglary in the 4000 block of 5th Street on Monday at 935 AM. The owner showed Police were entry was made into their vehicle through the door and miscellaneous items were stolen.


Yesterday Meridian Police charged 29 year old Daniel R. Baxley of Meridian Ms and with Burglary of an Auto. Baxley was caught in the act by a concerned citizen on Sunday afternoon and alerted Police. This incident occurred in the 7700 block of Old 8th Street Road. Bond was set at $15,000.


Last week, on the 4th of September, Meridian Police responded to a shooting call in the Redline area. Upon arrival they found a man who had been shot once in the upper thigh by a rifle. The victim in that case, 45 year old Manuel Torres of Meridian, has since died of his injuries.

Meridian Police are now searching for the suspect, 33 year old Christopher J Morris of Meridian. Morris is described as a black male standing 5-07 and weighing 175 pounds. Morris may still be in the Meridian area or fled to Prentiss Mississippi. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 601-485-1860.
