Yesterday, with the assistance of the Meridian/Lauderdale County Drug Task Force and the Kemper County Sheriff's Department, Meridian Police arrested 17 year old Christieon Crump of Dekalb and charged him with the Armed Robbery of the Commercial Bank on Highway 39 North. The gun and stolen money were not located yesterday because of the tornado that struck Kemper County. Efforts to locate the items will continue later when conditions permit. Crump's bond was set at $500,000.

Meridian Police have charged 19 year old Patrick D. Jackson and 17 year old Jaquis K. Reed, both of Meridian, with Accessory after the Fact to Armed Robbery. These charges stem from the pair intentionally hiding a subject from Police who had Armed Robbery charges filed against him. This incident occurred on Wednesday when the Meridian Police Department's DART team took Ray Ray Brown into custody for the Armed Robbery at the local motel last week as reported yesterday. Bond was set at $15,000 per charge.

Late Tuesday night, Meridian Police responded to a Residential Burglary call in the 5000 block of 22nd Street. Upon arrival they learned that a suspect attempted to break into a residence and was met at the door by the homeowner who was armed with a handgun. The suspect fled but was followed by the homeowner who directed the Police to the suspects location where he was subsequently arrested. It was later learned the suspect also slashed the tires of the homeowner's vehicles.
Meridian Police have now charged 53 year old Danny D. Fitzgerald of Meridian and charged him with Felony Malicious Mischief and Residential Burglary. Bond on the Burglary charge was set at $250,000 and $25,000 for the Malicious Mischief charge.
