Meridian Police Department Media Release

The following were reported to the Meridian PD from 04-11-2014 to 04-14-2014

Robbery

At 4:40 PM, On April 11, 2014, Meridian Police responded to a Strong Armed Robbery in the 5800 block of 5th Street. Officers arrived at 5:13 PM, and made an arrest after a foot pursuit. The suspect beat victim who was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released. The case is still under investigation

At 10:47 AM, On April 13, 2014, Meridian Police responded to an Armed Robbery in the 300 block of 17th Street. Officers arrived in 2 minutes and found a victim who was shot in the leg. The victim stated that an unknown B/M took his vehicle at gunpoint. The vehicle was later found by Meridian Officers. The victim was transported to a local hospital for his injuries. The case is still under investigation.

At 7:24 PM, On April 13, 2014, Meridian Police responded to a Strong Armed Robbery in the 100 block of 8th Avenue South. Officers arrived in 3 minutes and spoke to victim. The victim stated a b/m and w/m suspect took cash from him. The case is still under investigation.

Commercial Burglary

At 7:44 AM, On April 12, 2014, Meridian Police responded to a commercial burglary in the 2200 block of Highway 45 North. Officers arrived at 7:47 AM and found entry made through a back window.

Stolen Vehicles

At 4:06 PM, On April 11, 2014, Victim came into the Meridian Police Department to report her vehicle stolen. The victim stated that the keys were left in the vehicle.

Auto Burglary

At 11:10 PM, on April 11, 2014, Meridian Police responded to an auto burglary in the 800 block of 31st Street. Officers arrived in 8 minutes and determined that entry was gained through a door.

At 12:32 AM, on April 12, 2014, Meridian Police responded to an auto burglary in the 4600 block of Poplar Springs Drive. Officers arrived at 12:33 AM and determined that entry was gained through a window.

At 1:33 AM, on April 12, 2014, Meridian Police responded to an auto burglary in the 2300 block of Front Street. Officers arrived at 1:43 AM and determined that entry was gained through a window.

At 6:11 AM, on April 12, 2014, Meridian Police responded to an auto burglary in the 3800 block of Grandview Avenue. Officers arrived in 3 minutes and determined that entry was gained through a door.

At 10:59 AM, on April 12, 2014, Meridian Police responded to an auto burglary in the 3800 block of Grandview Avenue. Officers arrived at 11:06 AM and determined that entry was gained through a door.

At 12:19 AM, on April 12, 2014, Meridian Police responded to an auto burglary in the 1400 block 16th Avenue. Officers arrived in 3 minutes and determined that entry was gained through a window.

At 1:50 Pm, on April 12, 2014, Meridian Police responded to an auto burglary in the 2200 block of 42nd Street. Officers arrived in 9 minutes and determined that entry was gained through a door.

Residential Burglary

At 6:24 PM, on April 11, 2014, Meridian Police responded to a burglary in the 5100 block of West gates Hills Drive. Officers arrived at 6:36 PM and determined that entry was gained through a door.

At 10:34 PM, on April 11, 2014, Meridian Police responded to a burglary in the 200 block of 23rd Avenue. Officers arrived at 10:41 PM and determined that entry was gained through a window.

At 5:28 AM, on April 12, 2014, Meridian Police responded to a burglary in the 100 block of 71st Place. Officers arrived at 5:28 AM and determined that entry was gained through a window.

At 9:21 PM, on April 12, 2014, Meridian Police responded to a burglary in the 2000 block of Mosby Road Apartments. Officers arrived at 9:21 PM and determined that entry was gained through a window.

At 10:32 AM, on April 13, 2014, Meridian Police responded to a burglary in the 3200 block of 12th Avenue. Officers arrived in 4 minutes and determined that entry was gained through a window.

Shootings

Meridian Police Officers responded to 11 shots fired calls. When Officers arrived on scene they were unable to locate evidence to support the calls.

At 4:04PM, on April 11, 2014, Meridian Police responded to a shooting in the 1800 block of 24th Street. The victim was shot in the right arm. The suspect and another male were in an altercation in the residence when the victim was shot. This case is still under investigation.

At 3:07 AM, on April 12, 2014, Meridian Police responded to shooting into a dwelling in the 2600 block of Edgewood Drive. Officers arrived at 3:12 AM and determined that residence had been hit twice by gunfire. This case is still under investigation.

At 9:11 PM, on April 13, 2014, Meridian Police responded to a shooting into a dwelling in the 4800 block of Royal Road. Officers arrived in 2 minutes and determined the residence had been hit once by gunfire.

Felony Arrest

On April 9, 2014, Meridian detectives charged 22 year old Jovante Q. McKee with shooting into a dwelling. McKee’s bond was set at $50,000.

On April 9, 2014, Meridian Detectives charged 23 year old Jaquadraz L. Purnell with felon carrying a concealed weapon. Purnell is hold for MDOC.

On April 10, 2014, Meridian Detectives charged 28 year old Jarrod Carpenter with burglary. Carpenter’s bond was set at $5,000.
