As reported yesterday, Meridian Police arrested Ashley Lewis and Stantrez Grady for the Armed Robbery at Highland Park that occurred Wednesday night. Meridian Police now hold active warrants for the third suspect in that case, 17 year old Markeey Green. Police ask if you know of Green's whereabouts to call the Police at 601-485-1893 or CrimeStoppers at 601-485-1860.

Early Thursday morning, Meridian Police responded to a local motel on a report of an Armed Robbery. Upon arrival we were told the victim met a young lady at the motel after setting up the meeting on a social networking site. After arriving and entering the room, a male subject who was hiding in the room displayed a handgun and robbed the victim of his cellphone. The victim was able to escape from the room and the suspect fled on foot but the female accomplice remained behind.
Meridian Police have now arrested 17 year old Ashley Denise Cole of Meridian and charged her with Armed robbery. Bond was set at $250,000. Police are now searching for the second suspect.

This is the third arrest made in as many days on this type of crime. Police believe others of a similar nature have occurred but the victims have been afraid to come forward because of the original reason they were meeting someone. We encourage anyone who has had a similar crime happen to them to come forward so the cases can be investigated. We strongly caution the general public about meeting people from online social networking sites at motels and out of the way places. Just as Police use the internet to catch online predators, the criminal element uses it as well to conduct their business.
