Early Saturday morning, Meridian Police responded to a disturbance call in the 4400 block of 8th Street. During the investigation into the disturbance, an Officer was assaulted by someone he was trying to arrest. Police subsequently arrested Bonnie J. McCoy, 34, of Meridian and charged her with Simple Assault on a Police Officer. Her bond was set at 25,000. The Officer was treated at a local hospital for his injuries and has since returned to duty.

Saturday night at about 2100 hours, Meridian Police responded to an alarm call at a business located in the 900 block of 25th Avenue. Upon arrival a suspect was seen fleeing the business and a foot chase ensued. The suspect was caught a few blocks over by a Lauderdale County Deputy who was in the area and assisting with the call.. Charged with Commercial Burglary in connection with the incident is 36 year old Rodney E. Rush of Meridian. His bond was set at $25,000.
