Murphy Gas, 2nd Street South

145 calls for service

Last night at about 2100 hours, Meridian Police responded to Murphy's Gas on 2nd Street south on a report of a strong armed robbery. Upon arrival they were advised by the clerk that a man gained access into the store and robbed the clerk of her money and the store's money before fleeing on foot. The suspect is described as a black male, 6 feet tall and 180 pounds wearing an orange shirt and green pants with a grey toboggan. The suspect fled on foot and the clerk was unharmed. Police continue to investigate the case and will provide additional information later as the case progresses.

Yesterday Meridian Police charged 27 year old Mason T. Hester of Houlka, Ms with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon with a bond set at $25,000. Hester was apprehended over the weekend from a traffic stop made on the vehicle he was travelling in.

Yesterday Meridian Police charged 26 year old Durrell C. Arrington of Shubuta with the crime of Embezzlement. This charge stems from an incident that occurred in February of 2012. Because this was a Capias warrant, no bond was assessed for the charge. He had been apprehended earlier on the Capias warrant by the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department and processed by the Police Department accordingly.
