There were no Robberies reported yesterday.

Residential Burglary

There were no Residential Burglaries reported yesterday.

Commercial Burglary

Meridian Police are investigating a Commercial Burglary that occurred in the 1000 block of Azalea 18th Street. Police were alerted to the crime at 724 AM. Entry was made through the roof and money was stolen.

Stolen Vehicle

Meridian Police are investigating a Stolen Vehicle case involving a motorcycle that occurred on Wednesday in the 4900 block of Arthur Street. Meridian Police were alerted to the crime at 1251 PM. Police are searching for a blue 2007 Suzuki motorcycle displaying a tag of 2593. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 601-485-1860.

Meridian Police are also investigating another Stolen Vehicle case that occurred yesterday. Police were notified at 1:07 PM about the crime and were told a man was paid in counterfeit money for a car purchase. Police are searching for a 2007 Dodge Magnum, silver, with no tag. Again, if anyone has information about the vehicle they are asked to call Crimestoppers.

Auto Burglary

Meridian Police were called to the 500 block of Highway 19 north yesterday at 230 P.M. on a call of an Auto Burglary. The owner showed Police where entry was made through the window and a purse was were stolen from the vehicle.


Yesterday, Meridian Police arrested 52 year old Kawame M Shannon of Meridian and charged her with Robbery. This charge stems from the incident reported on September 11th where a man was robbed in his home in the 2000 block of 26th Avenue on September 10th. The victim and suspect knew each other prior to the robbery. Bond was set at $20,000.

Yesterday at 4:11 PM, Meridian Police responded to a disturbance that occurred in the 4100 block of 58th Place. A female who was cut with a knife during the disturbance was treated at a local hospital. Persons of interest were detained at the scene and questioned and the investigation continues.

Today, Meridian Police charged 33 year old Christopher J Morris of Meridian with the crime of Murder, Aggravated Assault and Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling. The murder charge stems from the shooting and subsequent death of 45 year old Manuel Torres of Meridian last Wednesday. The Aggravated Assault and Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling charges are related to the same night shooting into a house. Bond was set at $500,000 for Murder, $200,000 for Aggravated Assault and $25,000 for Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling.
