Republican U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions has defeated Democratic state Sen. Vivian Davis Figures in his bid for a third term.
With a big lead in pre-election polls, Sessions highlighted his conservative credentials and experience to win Tuesday.
Figures lacked funds for a major effort in her first statewide campaign. She had attempted to become the first black U.S. senator for Alabama and the first woman elected to the post in this state.
