Meridian has precinct changes that will affect voters in the 2009 elections. City clerk, Ed Skipper, said officials are working to notify about 1,500 new city voters in a recently-annexed area, of their voting precincts.
Skipper said to be sure to check your voter registration card carefully, because your county and city precincts may be different. And if you're not registered to vote, you still have time to do that.
"I just wish I had more time to go ready. There's a lot to do," said Meridian city clerk, Ed Skipper. "And hopefully we will have a smooth election. The important thing to remember is the primaries are party functions. The general election is the city election, in the sense of electing the mayor and city council."
Primaries for all cities and towns are May 5. If needed, a runoff election would be May 19. The general election is June 2. The new terms start Monday, July 6.
