All five of Meridian's mayoral candidates appeared in a forum together Wednesday afternoon.
Meridian Housing Authority's Resident Advisory Board invited the four Democrats and one Republican to speak about the issues and answer questions.
Cheri Barry is the only Republican in the race. The Democrats are Percy Bland, William Compton, Joe Norwood and Casandra Sloan.
"Our residents are empowering themselves," said Ron Turner, executive director of Meridian Housing Authority. "Decisions and things that are going to be made in this community involve residents of Meridian Housing Authority. And they've taken an interest in becoming involved in the political process, as well they should, because they are indeed integral parts of the city."
Candidates were asked to share their goals for the city and how they would use their experience in managing the city's budget.
