Meridian insurance agent Percy Bland has won a 4-way race for the Democratic nomination for mayor of Meridian. He took 61% of the vote.
Casandra Sloan, manager of Manpower, placed second with 23%. Lauderdale County supervisor Joe Norwood was third with 14%. Meridian High school teacher William Compton was fourth with 2%.
Bland will face Republican Cheri Barry, who was unopposed for the GOP nomination, in the June 2 general election.
