First of all...Cheri never worked an 8-5 at the Red Cross. She was on 24 hour call there. Lots of nights when you were all snuggled in your beds sound asleep, Cheri was recieving a call at 2 or 3 in the morning that there was a house fire or other disaster. She then would stay out all night and all the next day helping the victims. I just love it when people talk about stuff that they know nothing about...so classy. I would like for you to try just one day to walk in her shoes and do everything that she does...I bet you would be eager to change your opinions. Second of all, building with old brick is smart...one..because it would save money-duh, two...reusing historical brick from part of the city would be meaningful and cherishable. Most of you didn't get that...lots of you had to dig around and find something negative to say about it. I also love it when people twist and turn other people's words around to make it sound like they are hateful or racist. Great Job Meridian!!

VOTE PERCY BLAND JUNE 2ND. I KNOW PERCY PERSONALLY AND CHERRI HAVE TALKED AT ME. ONCE SHE REALIZED I LIVED IN THE COUNTY SHE WAS NOT INTERESTED IN CONVERSATING ANYMORE SINCE I CAN'T VOTE. THAT SHOWS SHE IS OUT FOR A VOTE AND TO MAKE HISTORY AS THE FIRST FEMALE MAYOR. HOW DO I KNOW THAT. SHE SAID THAT WAS HER GOAL WHEN SHE WAS TALKING AT ME. YOU WILL SUPRISED WHAT YOUR CAN FIND OUT IN THE NAIL SHOP. WE NEED HISTORY TO BE MADE BY BRINGING MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO A CITY THAT IS SLOWLY DYING. WHO CARES WHETHER IT IS MALE OR FEMALE. MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE BY VOITNG PERCY BLAND.

It seems some people have some personal ties to the candidates, ha ha. As an "outsider" and new resident of Meridian within the last year - I will be proud to vote for Mr. Percy Bland because he seems to be the candidate that is truly for the people and not just boosting up himself, what was Cheri thinking about with the ice cream bit and talking about a building with old bricks for black americans?

Obviously the "business person" posted below is not a very good judge of character. For starters, Cheri was only trying to state the obvious about the school bond issue. The citizens of Meridian have a right to know the truth about Percy and the mistakes that he has made in the past. As far as your assumption of her being a "dirty politician" and her husband being a "crook", you need to reconsider your harsh opinions of the Barrys. Cheri is the most sincere, loving person that I know. She is honest and fair and believes that everyone deserves to be given equal opportunity. Her husband is also an extremely loyal and honest man with a heart of gold. There is not an ounce of "crook" in his blood. You need to get your facts straight and keep your incompetent remarks to yourself. It shows a flaw in your character to slander such fabulous people. Vote for Cheri Barry!!!!! -JBF

I listened very closely to the debate. Cheri has no fresh ideas so how could Percy have repeated anything she said? He certainly did not repeat that he wanted to build a special park here in Meridian for black folks-which really shows Cheri to be backwards! Percy's soft spoken demeanor is why he will win the election on Tuesday. I know both Percy and Cheri personally. He's been involved with everything in Meridian since he landed! All Cheri has done to serve the people of Meridian was what she was being paid to do from 8-5, which was to work for the Red Cross. That was not volunteer work; that work was for a paycheck. Vote for the best candidate and that candidate is Percy Bland. was

The only thing Cheri Barry demonstrated last night was that she isn't the "love filled caring person" that she has attempted to portray her self as. The tacky attack against Percy regarding his voting on the bond issue made her look like a ruthless cut throat politician who is desperate to win a vote. Certainly not the kind of person that I would want to represent this city or to be an influence on its youth. Looks like she's picking up some tricks from her crook husband and his lawyer croonies. Percy Bland is the only candidate that is the same genuine, honest and open person with everyone he meets. He is the candidate who our at risk young people will listen to and be inspired by. And as to the voting issue-we elected Delbert Hoseman to oversee this type of issue and he stated that there was no problem with where Percy voted. So Mrs Berry needs to stop throwing mud cause it's blowing back on her and showing her true dirty colors.

Cheri was HANDS DOWN the best speaker at the debate. Percy was too soft-spoken to be a man wanting a leadership position. He repeated/restated every thing that Cheri stated the first time. Cheri Barry was the winner on the debate. Tell your neighbors and friends to vote on Tuesday for the next mayor of Meridian: CHERI BARRY. I know you'll make Meridian proud!!!
