Barbour said Monday that recapturing control of the Senate would be a long shot. Barbour says, "I think it is highly likely we will win a majority in the House, but it's harder in the Senate. It's more of a stretch."
Barbour, chairman of the Republican Governors Association, called the election "a referendum" on President Barack Obama.
He said the election is not about the public saying, 'Hey, Republicans, we love you.' " He said it's a manifestation of voter anger over "outrageous spending" by the Obama administration.
