Governor Haley Barbour says he expects to return to the private sector following the end of his two terms in the state's highest office.
Barbour spent time in Meridian this week, and he was asked about the chances of being picked as a candidate for Vice President once a republican nominee is selected.
Barbour says that because of Mississippi's voting tendencies, he would be shocked if he were picked as a running mate next year.
"I can't imagine anyone wanting the pick the Governor of Mississippi for his running mate," says Barbour.
"I mean if a republican candidate can't carry Mississippi he can't carry five states, so why would they pick me so I think that is very unlikely. "
Barbour says he will work to help out the future republican nominee in any way he can.
