Dozens of Cities Miss Certification Deadline
Posted: 06/14/2013 - Mississippi's chief elections officer says numerous municipalities failed to certify their recent election results by the legal deadline.
Saturday the City of Quitman will be hosting their annual Forestry and Wildlife Festival, but before the fun gets started Saturday, some heavy political hitters took center stage Friday.
Several candidates in November's general election spoke Friday at Archusa Water Park in Quitman in a political forum hosted by the Clarke County Chamber of Commerce.
"We have Representative Greg Snowden out of District 83, Sam Thompson out of District 83," says rally organizer Marsha Roberts, "also Mark Purvis out of District 86, Steve Simpson he is running for Attorney General."
Other local candidates, including contenders for Clarke County Sheriff, also spoke at tonight's forum.
