District 5 Candidate Withdraws from Race

Lauderdale County District 5 supervisor's candidate Daniel Cook has withdrawn from the race.

Cook, a Democrat, said Wednesday that he's satisfied that Republican winner, Kyle Rutledge, will make a good supervisor.
He said Rutledge is a good guy and he's known him for a long time.

Cook said he believes that Rutledge will equally represent both Democrat and Republican constituents.

Cook said if Boswell had won the GOP Primary, then he would have stayed in the race to try to beat him in the general election.

With Cook's withdrawal, Rutledge faces no opposition in November.

Daniel Cook's intentions, both in qualifying and withdrawing from this race, are admirable! We need more willing, able and honest men in office at all governmental levels. Good luck with your future endeavors.

What a complete joke and mockery of the election process. Word going around was that the majority of those votes werent FOR mr rutledge but simply AGAINST mr boswell and that there would still be a choice in November. The words that come to my mind are payoff and backroom deal. Shame on YOU mr cook.

The main thing is that RAY BOSWELL IS GONE. Boswell said he was "A phone call away", how come News center 11 has not been able to contact him.

I glad to see Mr.Cook withdraw .Because it looks like he was in it just get Ray out. We don't need someone like office that's something Ray would have done. I think Kyle got in to better the county . I happy to see Ray gone we got best out of all of them . Kyle just keep do what God wants you to do .

Mr. Cook, you hold fast to that mature and classy attitude. It will take you far.

Good move. Everyone wins. Makes you wonder if changing to Republican Party for Ray bit him twice. Ray didn't get rid of the sheriff and he lost his own seat. My opinion of District 5 has been drastically elevated.

How convenient, but then as TPTB now have Ray out of the way, there will be nobody to stand in their way.
