Lynn Fitch is officially announcing her candidacy with a series of campaign appearances around the state this week.
Fitch visited Meridian Tuesday afternoon. She says she has the right qualifications and experience for the job.
"In a time of financial crisis, we need somebody that's ready to go. One the job training, we don't have time for that," said Fitch. "I have the experience level of over 25-plus years being in the government practice and in the private sector. So I feel that my experience level will allow me to come in and be ready to go Day 1 as the state treasurer."
Fitch is a Republican. She says she has been a bond attorney and has also done work for the state treasurer, and the state departments of banking and finance.
Current treasurer, Tate Reeves, is running for Lt. Governor.
