Dozens of Cities Miss Certification Deadline
Posted: 06/14/2013 - Mississippi's chief elections officer says numerous municipalities failed to certify their recent election results by the legal deadline.
Mississippi candidate for governor, Johnny DuPree, paid a visit to Meridian Friday night.
Hattiesburg's mayor spoke at an event called "Making Mississippi First".
The Democrat talked a lot about jobs and education, saying those issues are crucial to his campaign platform.
"It's important we empower our people by letting them have a voice, and have a seat at the table, and that's what we're doing," DuPree said.
DuPree is vying for the Democratic nomination, along with Delta businessman Bill Luckett, William Compton of Meridian, and Guy Shaw of Coffeeville.
