Jimmie Moore, local sales manager for Southern Waste announced he is running as a Republican for the District 5 seat currently held by Ray Boswell.
Moore is a former county administrator in Kemper County. He says he's the man for this job.
"What I think I can bring to District 5 is impartiality, maturity, stability," said Moore. "I've always been a person who wants to help other people. I think that local government is the best approach you can have to grassroots help to all constituents, not one group of people or another group of people, but the entire constituency in District 5. "
Boswell announced Thursday that he had qualified to run for re-election, and was switching from the Democrat to the Republican party. Three other men have also announced plans to run for the seat.
