The Mississippi Manufacturers Association, National Federation of Independent Business, and Business and Industry Political Education Committee (BIPEC) announced Monday their endorsement of state Rep. Greg Snowden, who is seeking re-election in House District 83.
They say Snowden has been fiscally responsible during his three terms, opposing higher taxes, over-spending and regulation that impedes the creation of jobs.
"The legislature can't create jobs; private sector does that. But the legislature can promote the types of policies that will, in fact, bring jobs. And that's what these groups here understand. Because even though the legislature cannot create jobs, other than in the government sector, the legislature certainly can kills jobs with the wrong kind of policies."
BIPEC grades all legislators on business-related issues. Based on the legislator's votes, it issues a grade. Snowden received an 'A'.
Snowden has also been endorsed by Enterprise Mayor Larry Murray, Stonewall Mayor Jackie McHenry, and Quitman Mayor Eddie Fulton.
Two others are running for the House District 83 seat are Democrat Gary Houston and Independent, Sam Thompson.
