Former Kemper County sheriff, Sam Tisdale, is making a run for the position this year.
Tisdale lost his bid for re-election in 2007 to current Sheriff James Moore.
The two candidates were separated by less than a hundred votes.
A recount determined the winner.
Tisdale qualified to run for the office Tuesday, the first day of qualifying.
