Houston, Palmer Discuss Appointing City Leaders
Updated: 3:15 PM - Two city council candidates say there are procedures to follow when appointing leaders to certain departments within the city.
The deadline is approaching for new voters to be registered for the Mar. 13 federal primary in Mississippi.
If you haven't registered yet, or if you have changed your address since you last registered, you need to take care of that no later than 12 noon, Feb. 11.
Circuit clerk offices will be open 8 a.m. to noon that day for registration, and registering to vote may be done during regular business hours Monday through Friday next week.
"This is the deadline, a week coming up, so I want to stress to people who have moved here, or they've never registered to vote, please come in and take advantage of it," said Johnson. "And the cutoff day is the 11th, because that's the day we start printing the poll books."
If you'd like to vote absentee in the primary, ballots are available now in circuit clerk offices.
