The MSU Riley Center is nearing the end of its season, but says there are still more activities to enjoy first.
The Riley Center said there are several June events to anticipate. The theatre is partnering with Meridian Little Theatre, the State Games of Mississippi, and the off-Broadway show "Tony and Tina's Wedding". Plus, Meridian Community College will perform a patriotic concert.
"For just a general admission fee of $5.00 anyone can come in and hear these local musicians, who are incredibly talented, in our historic grand opera house theatre," said Penny Kemp, marketing director, in sharing details about the MCC concert. "It's a great opportunity for people to not only see the theatre, but experience it how its is intended, with a performance going on in there."
"Tony and Tina's Wedding" will be presented June 4-8. The $65 tickets include the show and a meal.
There will be public tours of the theatre for $5.00 Friday, June 20, in conjunction with the State Games opening ceremonies. The tentative time for these tours is prior to the opening ceremonies between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
The MCC Concert Band performs patriotic music Saturday, June 21 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5.00 each.
And Friday, June 27 at 8 p.m., the Meridian Symphony Orchestra performs "A Night on Broadway" featuring Laurie Gayle Stephenson and Steve Amerson. Tickets are $50.00 and $45.00 and go on sale to the general public June 2.
