The Jimmie Rodgers Foundation is inviting you to mark your calendars for the 2012 Jimmie Rodgers Festival.
The foundation announced details for community events that include the annual pageant and talent contest.
The festival again has a partnership with the MSU Riley Center and Wynonna's appearance there May 19 at 7:30 p.m. is part of the festival.
"We brought everything downtown again," said foundation president, Betty Lou Jones. "And we're having Dumont Plaza as the venue for the talent contest and Jimmie's Jam. And we're going to be having a whole whirlwind of activities in downtown Meridian for the Jimmie Rodgers Foundation Festival."
Jones says additional events will be announced next month.
The Jimmie Rodgers Pageant will be Mar. 31 at Northeast Conference Center. Queens will be selected in ages groups up to 18 years old. Winners will appear at festival events and other activities during the year. Information and applications will be available at the Jimmie Rodgers Museum, Lauderdale County Tourism Office, City of Meridian Community Development, and at the festival website. A link is provided below. Applications should be returned by Mar. 20.
The Jimmie Rodgers Talent Contest will be in Dumont Plaza May 19, starting at 8 a.m.
Applications for the talent contest will be available after Mar. 15 at the Jimmie Rodgers Museum, Lauderdale County Tourism Office, City of Meridian Community Development, and at the festival website. Applications should be returned by May 12.
There will be winners in Gospel and country divisions.
Jimmie's Jam will also be in Dumont Plaza May 19, starting at 4 p.m.
