The Jimmie Rodgers Foundation continues its activities tied to the annual festival.
"Jimmie Rodgers Days" will be held this weekend, April 28-29, at Singing Brakeman Park in downtown Meridian.
The park is on Front Street near Union Station and next to the 18th Avenue bridge.
"The activities start out with the youth and adult country music talent competition contest, which will start at 2:00 on Friday afternoon. The exciting news is that the winner of this contest will get to open for Travis Tritt on May 27 at the Lauderdale County Ag Center," said Betty Kou Jones, president of the Jimmie Rodgers Foundation.
"Jimmie Rodgers Days" will feature the country talent contest on Friday afternoon and the Jeff Bates concert at 8:30 Friday night.
Saturday will feature Pickin' in the Park and a car show all day.
The Memphis in May barbecue contest will be both days.
Tickets for the Jeff Bates concert, with special guest Allie Cutter, are $20.00 each, available at Bonita Lakes Mall, the Jimmie Rodgers Museum in Highland Park, the Salad Factory, and at www.jimmierodgers.com. All other events on Friday and Saturday are free of charge.
WTOK-TV and Fox Meridian are proud sponsors of the Jimmie Rodgers Festival.
