The Mississippi State University Riley Center for the Performing Arts announced it will officially open its doors Sept. 8.
Officials said they still have a good deal of work to complete in the next three months, but they are now certain it will be finished by then.
The grand opening celebration will include a black-tie gala and a performance at the theater.
"Everyone has been asking us, 'when are you going to open?' So we want to announce the date so everyone can save that time period, and get it marked on their calendars that it's coming up," said executive director Dennis Sankovich.
Sankovich said the center will announce details of that grand opening, including the nationally-known artist who will be performing, later this month or early next month.
