BB King became the second person to get a star on the Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Center's Walk of Fame in a Thursday afternoon ceremony.
The walk is located outside the Mississippi State University Riley Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Meridian.
King joins "The Father of Country Music", Jimmie Rodgers, was recognized with the first star in February.
Officials say King is a natural choice for this showcase of Mississippi entertainers.
The 83-year-old bluesman did not attend the ceremony. He was represented by an official from the BB King Museum. Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant represented the state of Mississippi.
