West Lauderdale Student Wins Leahy Contest

Nicole Boyd, 15, and a student at West Lauderdale High School was chosen to perform on stage with Leahy at the MSU Riley Center next Tuesday.

Boyd was selected based on the 100-word entry she submitted on why she feels “called to dance.” She will have the unique opportunity to dance with the band during their award-winning song “The Call to Dance”.

Boyd also receives four tickets to the show and Leahy’s new Live CD and DVD.

This is Boyd's winning essay:

First off let me start by saying that dancing on stage with Leahy would be an astonishing and once in a life time experience that I would love to do. I have clogged since I was about 6 and am currently performing on the Suzie McCraw Clogging Team. I also love Celtic and Irish music and if I was chosen for this opportunity I would try my very best to please everyone and make the group proud. Thank you!

Tickets are still available to the Tuesday, Mar. 13, 8 p.m. performance,
for $21 and $27 each.

Leahy is eight brothers and sisters from Ontario, Canada, who present a high-energy show that is influenced by Celtic, folk, rock, pop, country and classical music.
