For years, the events of the Jimmie Rodgers Memorial Festival have been spread throughout the year.
But this year they will be held during the month of May. This is the traditional month for the festival, because Rodgers died in May 1933.
Jimmie Rodgers Foundation president, Betty Lou Jones, says the change is being made by request.
"We are looking at what used to be great, what used to work, what people liked," said Jones. "And we are incorporating that in our plans. We want the best of all the years as we move forward."
This year's festival will include a new event called Jimmie's Jam May 21, 5 p.m. at Singing Brakeman Park, Front Street, Meridian. It will feature local and regional bands.
