MSO Conductor Resigns

The Meridian Symphony Orchestra has accepted the resignation of its conductor, Dr. Claire Fox Hillard.

Hillard was arrested Aug. 10 in Camilla, Ga., wearing only a towel in public, and was charged with loitering.

Symphony officials announced the resignation of Hillard late Friday afternoon.

Hillard had served as MSO's conductor since 1991. He's also conductor for the Albany (Ga.) Symphony.

I would like an explaination as to why he played the race card.

Police said that Hillard first told police he was robbed and assaulted by two black men, but that he later changed his story and said his clothes were cut because of a sexual act with a woman.

Well - I am not surprised as his resignation, as I figure it was only since he was about to get the boot from the symphony anyway! I'd suggest the symphony rehire Vernon, that is if the man is still alive ! Vernon might have been somewhat of a pain but the man KNEW what he was doing IMHO!!!

According to the Albany paper he was suspended without pay from the Albany Symphony for 6 months without pay. Sounds like he just survived over there. Being in the public eye you just don't put yourself in that position...what the heck was he thinking?!?

An organization is only as good as its leadership.

can'tbelieveit, One reason I see he should have resigned is because the first statements he made to protect himself was that he was robbed by two black males; a false claim. Do you think he would have told the truth afterwards if those "black males" were arrested and charged? I think not, how about you?
