Mississippi Jamboree Coming to Temple

The first Mississippi Jamboree will be held Saturday, Sept. 1 at the Temple Theatre.

The show will feature the group Southern Justice, along with tribute artists to Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Patsy Cline.

Organizers were in town Wednesday preparing for the first of what is expected to be a monthly show.

"This is a real venue for us. It's where we want to go," said show organizer Larry Bryant. "This is the closest we can get to the Grand Ole Opry stage, and we feel like it could be this."

Bryant is the brother of Gov. Phil Bryant, who will host a ribbon cutting before the first show in September.

Tickets for the Mississippi Jamboree are $10 and may be purchased at the Temple Theatre box office.
