Country singer Moe Bandy will be honored
with a marker on the Mississippi Country Music Trail.
The marker unveiling is scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday at Union Station on Front Street in Meridian.
His last hit, "Americana," released in 1988, became President George H. W. Bush's campaign song. Bandy played at Bush's inauguration and appeared twice at the White House in 1989.
He opened his Moe Bandy Americana Theatre in Branson in 1991. He now makes his home in Branson.
The Meridian native's other hits, mostly released in the 1970s, include "I Just Started Hatin' Cheatin' Songs Today," "It Was Always So Easy To Find An Unhappy Woman (Till I Started Lookin' For
Mine)" and "Bandy the Rodeo Clown."
