Oscar winner Morgan Freeman will be in town Thursday evening for the unveiling of his star on the Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Walk of Fame, just outside the MSU Riley Center.
The ceremony is set to get underway at 5 p.m.. A large crowd is expected.
Fred Cannon, a founder of the Walk of Fame, says the event has been a long time in the making.
"It has been a work of love and intensity because Morgan had a long commitment schedule of filming, including 'Mandela'. So, we've had to wait almost a year to get him here," said Cannon.
Other Mississippi natives to be recognized on the Walk of Fame include Meridian natives Sela Ward and Jimmie Rodgers, and Philadelphia's Marty Stuart.
