Meridian, Miss. The International Singing Brakeman Association is celebrating the life of Jimmie Rodgers this week.
The organization remembers The Father of Country Music especially at this time of year, on the anniversary of his death in 1933.
This is the 24th year that TISBA has set aside this week to honor Rodgers and share his music.
Visitors from Australia and Canada are a regular part of this tribute.
"A lot of people have learned from Jimmie Rodgers the traditional country music. And we just want to carry that on," said Leola Jones, TISBA secretary.
Jones says this week in May is like a family reunion for Jimmie Rodgers fans.
Music fills the hospitality room of the Best Western on South Frontage Road from 2 p.m. till around midnight. Saturday is the last night of tribute week.
