TISBA Celebrates Christmas with a Twist

Preserving the past, while preparing for the future, is the goal of an upcoming event.

Later this month, The International Singing Brakeman Association, TISBA, will sponsor its annual Christmas party.

However, this year the organization is offering free guitar lessons for anyone interested.

A special invitation is being made to children who want to learn how to play.

"I know a lot of entertainers who actually started when they were 5, 6 or 7 years old," said Glyn Jones, TISBA president. "So, if a child has an interest in singing and entertaining, the earlier they get started, the better they'll be later on."

TISBA's mission is to preserve the rich musical heritage started by the Father of Country Music, Meridian's own Jimmie Rodgers.

The party will be held Dec. 15, starting at 6 p.m. at Best Western in Meridian. Some extra guitars will be on hand for use during the free lessons.
