Meridian, Miss. The Meridian Restorations Foundation announced plans for this year's Trees of Christmas at Merrehope and the F.W. Williams house.
This is the 45th, or sapphire, anniversary of the Trees of Christmas. The theme is "Exploring Our Sapphire World".
An opening reception will be hosted Nov. 24th at 1 p.m. Trees from around the world will be unveiled.
"Countries all over the world, decorated by clubs and organizations and school children in our community, and they are all learning more and more about customs and traditions for holidays all over the world," said Betty Lou Jones of the Meridian Restorations Foundation.
A flute choir and bagpipes will be on hand at the opening reception playing music from around the world. Admission for the event is $10 for adults, $9 for senior adults and $5 for minors. Children 6 and under are admitted free.
Trees of Christmas tours begin Nov. 25 and continue until Dec. 30. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The last tour each days starts at 4 p.m. Admission for adults is $10 for both houses, or $5 for one; $9 for both houses for senior adults, or $4 for one; $5 for students for both houses, or $3 for one. Merrehope and the F.W. Williams house will be closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.
