A new video is being launched in hopes of attracting more jobs to Meridian. It's a Quality of Life video that will be used by the East Mississippi Business Development Corporation. From health-care and education to recreation and housing opportunities, the eight minute video features all aspects of the community. EMBDC president Wade Jones says because this area has a lot to offer in terms of available sites and general location, he's optimistic that the new video will help East Mississippi become even more marketable.
"When the selection of communities is narrowed down to two or three communities, quality of life becomes a significant issue because management will be moving to that town or that city," says Jones. "This is going to put us in a very, very competitive position. When consultants and corporate executives visit Meridian, they're only here for a couple of hours. So, it's hard to capture that story in just a slide or two. I think that the viewers are going to be very impressed and pleased with the tools that we have as economic development practitioners to tell our story."
Jones says the video should be available for anyone to view on the EMBDC's website by January 21st. It was developed by the local advertising firm, Leading Edges. The cost was $26,000.
