Earth's Bounty Successful!

The monthly Earth's Bounty Farmer's Market in Meridian is described as a money maker for local growers.

The first one was held in June. Since then, officials say the market has generated more than $50,000 in revenues.

"As far as money we believe there was approximately $22,500 brought in in June and over $30,000 brought in in July,' says Earth's Bounty spokesperson, Lisa Mathis-Smith. ' We just had the past one this past Saturday, which was the first one in August and the numbers are still out on it, but we were very successful and confident that we did just as well.'

The Earth's Bounty is held the first Saturday of each month at Singing Brakeman Park in Meridian.

Aside from fresh produce, other locally made products are for sale. There are also music and activities for children.

Two more Earth's Bounty events will be held this year. The next will be held in September. It will be followed by the final one for the year in October.
